What is the Arms Down! campaign?

The Arms Down! Campaign calls on religious people to unite and work toward a safer world in the pursuit of global security. Members of the campaign are engaging world’s religious believers and all people of goodwill to accomplish the three goals of the campaign:

GOAL 1: To campaign for the abolition of nuclear weapons.

GOAL 2: To stop the proliferation and misuse of conventional weapons, in particular small arms, landmines, and cluster bombs.

GOAL 3: To reduce military expenditure and advance the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The ArmsDown! campaign works to achieve these goals by educating others about the need to disarm, mobilizing religious communities to adopt the cause of peace and disarmament and advocating for governments to implement policies of disarmament. Through education, mobilization and advocacy, the ArmsDown! campaign promotes disarmament and shared security for a future free of armed violence.
